Our specialists —

Skilled, experienced & specialised staff are trained to uphold the Views, Wishes and Feelings of the children

At East Meade House, children’s voices are central to our care. Staff work in close partnership with each child to build a positive, respectful home environment that reflects their individual rights, needs and preferences. We use accessible, inclusive communication, including visuals, simplified language, and 1:1 support, to help each child engage meaningfully. We also use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) tools, such as Makaton, and communication devices, to ensure every child can express themselves and be fully involved in their care, regardless of their verbal capacity.  Each child has a Key Worker and receives at least one key session per week, covering

  • Daily routines and progress
  • Incentives and concerns
  • Views on their care and life in the home

Children are further involved through:

  • Child-friendly house meetings (with visuals supports)
  • Placement Planning (panned and unplanned sessions)
  • Menu and activity planning
  • Consultation questionnaires and reviews
  • Discussions with the independent Visitor
  • Access to a secure digital platform to raise concerns, make requests, give feedback, or express likes and dislikes.

Staff consult with placing Social Workers and other professionals on the overall running of the home. Children are supported to engage with decisions about their lives, their place in the community, their futures, and their roles within their families and society.

All our teachers have the necessary qualifications and experience in foreign language courses.

We work with leading language tutorials and constantly adapt material for our students.
